How much computing does have to do with green?

Ya, folks what is it? Every other thing you stumble upon, they start ranting about green. Be it fuel, clothes, food and computing. I can deal with other stuff but not with computing. Oh, common, computing doesn't harm green. I would say not at all. Well there might be some exclusive cases or situations but normal and everyday computing has got nothing to do with green, I say that using my intuition, I don't know the statistics on this and am not interested in finding out either.

Ok, by now I have made you furious. But yes yes yes, I do care and I do have the statisticcal knowledge about how much green a datacenter can hurt. That's true, the impact is huge. Normally nobody cares when it comes to datacenters but oooh la la...if you find the statistics you will know for yourself. Again I am not going to include the exact figures here, just google it coz I did that too and it came right up(google keywords: green+computing). Why would anybody care when we are talkinga bout a datacenter which takes care of millions of transactions seamlessly with efficiency in terms of hourly labors. But again, we are talking about people who create datacenters. We can definatey think of something. It is understood that datacenters take a lot of power and couple with that comes the cost of cooling as well. We can definately reduce that cost and that's what the pedantic programmers at Sun talked at the last summit in Cali area.

I am glad about the world starting to think about saving where we do not really need to because there is a large margin of profit. Well, we can start thinking in that way when it comes to saving green. I still do think though, we really are not doing anything at all when it comes to personal computing.

Ok, by now does anything ring a bell in your head? Hmmmm gPC. Yes, they are all about green and what is it? A regular PC built using 99.99% of the products from the Opensource community. That's good lead. I love it but then why are they greenifying it. It doesn't need to be greened. I don't understand that big funda behind it thought, if any of you care go ahead and be my guest please....hasta manana!
